In April 2014 Emmanuel College, Gateshead was chosen by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) to become a National Teaching School.
The Emmanuel Teaching School Alliance (ETSA) partnership comprises of Primary and Secondary schools across Gateshead, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sunderland and Doncaster. Strategic partners include Newcastle University and Sheffield Hallam University.
The Emmanuel Teaching School Alliance is working to provide high quality school-led initial teacher training, contribute to the professional development of teachers at all stages of their career, and bring about sustained school improvement across the country. We believe there is a great deal to celebrate in the teaching profession and are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people on a daily basis. Expert initial teacher training and continued professional development at all stages is essential in our quest to develop educational leaders of the future. By training high quality, committed specialists in their subject, we ensure that the best people will teach our children for generations to come.
